I decided to keep this post as a light post, and my other site for my darker days. It is a more explicit site so enter at your own risk.
Anyway, I am going to continue in the vein of music trivia today. I will ask a series of questions, and some messed up words that need correcting and see how many you can get correct. The winner this time gets a poster of me as one of your favorite characters! Seeing how Jimbo dissed my Ninja t-shirt I won’t do that again. Nee-Nee says it freaks her out too, so you are not the only one James. Okay, let’s begin.
1. This character is in two bands. Name the bands, his name and what he does in both bands.
2. Who’s real name is: Marshal Mathers? Bonus point: How did he get his pseudonym?
3. Name this ex-Beatle that wrote and sung this song, along with the songs title, and correct these words: “Thought my mom sat on you.”
4. This song title appears at the beginning of the video, Rappers Delight. Though I am not a big rap fan, I will offer equal opportunity. Name this group and the year this single came out.
5. Name this group that had to change one word in their name because of copyright infringement. They enjoyed a little bit of success with a song based on a children’s story, for bonus points name the song they were known for also.

6. What bass player and guitarist was in a band called Wicked Lester before they formed the super group that rocketed them into fame in the early 1970’s?
7. This solo artist had no doubt that she would become a success. Name the artist and correct the lyrics. “I ain’t no hollow bat girl”
8. This mainstream metal group fired their original guitarist, Dave Mustain, by buying him a bus ticket home and leaving him stranded while on the road. Name this group and the group Dave went on to start.
9. Which legendary rocker and legendary folk singer joined to record an album together in 2007?
10. What song by Snow Patrol contains the lyrics, the lyrics are correct by the way.
“I don’t quite know how to say how I feel Those three words are said too much They’re not enough”
This might not be as fun as the last game, so let me know oh faithful readers which you would rather have.
until then, reach for the stars and stay out of the mud holes.
TD.

What, no players yet? I’ve been holding back and letting someone else show their brain. C’mon peeps, you can do this.
Hello The Doug,
I hate that no one wanted to play, so I am going to blow your mind with my musical knowledge. This way too you might post again, I cannot get enough of your post! You are the man, man.
Okay, here goes:
1. Corey Taylor; Slipknot and Stone Sour; Vocals
2. Eminem, his initials are M & M. Pretty clever huh?
3. All I got here is George Harrison. I cannot think of the song or the correction. Sorry…Maybe Tom can help with this.
4. Sugar Hill Gang; as for the year 1980-something. It was also used in an episode of Scrubs as the alarm clock first given to Turk and later handed off to JD since Carla did not like it. (I know that you like Scrubs too. I am such a Doug Head.)
5. Green Jelly, formerly known as Green Jello before the Jello company threatened a law suit. “The Big Bad Wolf” I believe was the song.
6. Gene Simmons, Bass; Paul Stanley, guitar-band is KISS.
7. Gwen Stefani, “Ain’t no holler back girl” Clearly inferior to the group effort of No Doubt her original band.
8. The original line up of Metallica, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich are the ones that decided to kick him out and leave him. At the time Cliff Burton, one of the greatest bass players of our time, taken away in an accident way before his time, was also in the group later to be replaced by Jason Newstead. Dave went on to form Megadeth as an answer to their disrespect.
9. Robert Plant and some chick.
10. Chasing Cars is the song by Snow Patrol.
Keep up the good work. I am thinking about starting a The Doug fan club. I have a few people interested. Are you okay with this?
You are the best,
The Mama’s Boy
Good job Mama’s Boy! That chick with Robert Plant is Alison Krauss. She’s in the Bluegrass realm. Their album, Raising Sand, is really good. Some of the songs aren’t quite my taste, but their voices blend well. Who’d have thought those two would sound that good?
#3 – George Harrison, Got My Mind Set On You
Gene Simmons – We used to have a couple of LP’s. Their makeup was pretty cool!
OK – Here’s a quick one.
Who wrote/sang the song that became well-known in the Volkswagon commercial that aired in 2000. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lSKUL_n6c0
Hey The Tom,
I really like that song! I used to wonder who wrote that, is it something Drake? I cannot think of the first name off hand. I have all of the old Kiss LP’s kind of shows my age huh? Thanks for helping me with Allison’s name, I kept thinking of Joan Baez but I knew that it wasn’t her. I like some of Allison’s songs, but I also enjoy Joan’s voice. We should keep this up. I checked out your sight, you should do some music trivia also.
The Doug needs to come back and at least comment to us, don’t you think?
Have a good day.
The Mama’s Boy
Bring out The Doug!
Yes, that song is Nick Drake’s Pink Moon from his album Pink Moon (1972). It’s sad that no one really knew about him until that commercial popped-up. He albums have sold more after his death than before.
Interestingly, he recorded the whole album in 2 days. His music is classified as Folk Rock. I have been listening to him for the past 12 days and reading up on his life. He has tremendous guitar skills and his voice is so smooth. If you listen to the words, they might seem autumnal and sometimes depressing, but magical at the same time. He was definitely before his time.
I am in the beginning phases of learning to play guitar. I hope to be able to play a few of his songs one day and hopefully do them justice.
And Alison Krauss is one of my top 5 female singers. She can pull off a concert with Bluegrass as well as a country/pop flare. She’s dynamic.
